KIEV, April 30 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's parliament adopted a resolution Monday on simultaneous parliamentary and presidential elections.

A total of 234 deputies, with 226 required, voted for the decision to hold presidential and parliamentary elections not later than 90 days from the introduction of relevant amendments into the Constitution, but not later than December 9.

In line with the resolution, a special commission will have to draft amendments to the Constitution envisioning early presidential and parliamentary elections.

Not less than 300 MPs should vote for amendments to the introduced.

On April 26 the Ukrainian leader signed a second decree to dissolve parliament and call an early vote for June 24. The pro-governmental majority of parliamentarians contested the decision and filed an appeal to the Constitutional Court, which has yet to make a decision.

The political crisis in Ukraine was triggered by the defection of 11 pro-presidential lawmakers to the majority parliamentary coalition backing Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych in late March.

Thousands of Yanukovych and Yushchenko backers have been rallying in central Kiev, bringing back memories of mass protests that swept Yushchenko to power after Yanukovych lost the presidential poll over vote rigging accusations.
