ROME, May 28 (RIA Novosti) - Italian law enforcement authorities said Monday they raided the offices of Eni suspected of using fraudulent natural gas meters, which Italy's largest oil company denies.

Police confiscated documents dated 2003 in Milan, Rome, Turin and Piacenza as part of a probe launched into discrepancies between gas metering and billing, and allegations of obstruction by Eni's management.

Eni subsidiaries Aem, Arcalgas, Italgas and Snam figure in the fraud investigation. But Eni Chief Executive Paolo Scaroni, who is under investigation, denies the allegations, which has led to a 2.1% fall in Eni share value.
