HONG KONG, May 29 (RIA Novosti) - A Chinese farmer who reportedly contracted the lethal H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus in February, has been released from a local hospital without any remaining symptoms, state news agency Xinhua said Tuesday.

Li Yinxiu, 44, a resident of the Fujian Province in southeastern China, who underwent three months of treatment for H5N1, has fully recovered and was dismissed from the Jianou city hospital on Tuesday morning, the agency said.

"She has recovered from the influenza, and her blood pressure, breathing, pulse and temperature is back to normal," the agency quoted Lin Zhangshu, Li's doctor, as saying.

Li developed symptoms of bird flu infection on February 18 after coming into contact with dead poultry. She was diagnosed with H5N1 by China's Ministry of Health on February 28.

Meanwhile, the country's Health Ministry confirmed over the weekend that a 19-year-old soldier was undergoing treatment for H5N1 at a military hospital.

China has reported a total of 25 human cases of bird flu since 2003, and the death toll has so far reached 15.

With the recently confirmed H5N1 death of a five-year-old Indonesian girl, the human death toll out of 307 cases around the world has risen to 186, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
