MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian rescue team looking for a Russian tourist still missing in northwest China called an end to its search Wednesday, and is returning to Moscow, an emergencies ministry spokesman said.
The spokesman added that rescuers had searched a 25,000 square kilometer (9,600 square mile) region, as well as a 210 kilometer (130 mile) section of the Yurungkax River.
However, no sign of Dmitry Tishchenko, the last of a group of Russian tourists which went missing nearly a month ago, was detected.
He added that the search would be continued by a Chinese ground team, and that Tishchenko would be officially listed as missing.
The group of six Russian sportsmen set off August 22 for a canoe trip down the Yurungkax River, a remote area in the Kunlun Mountains, one of the longest mountain chains in Asia, but they failed to turn up as scheduled on September 2.
Last week rescuers found two Russian survivors, Andrei Pautov, 28, and Alexander Zverev, 35. They said their catamarans had overturned on a difficult part of the river.
Earlier this month, the bodies of three men, identified as Vladimir Smetannikov, Sergei Chernik, and his son Ivan were discovered.
