STOCKHOLM, November 8 (RIA Novosti) - Finland is holding a day of mourning for the victims of Wednesday's school shooting, in which an 18-year-old student shot dead six pupils and two members of staff.

The Jokela High School gunman, reportedly identified by police as Pekka-Eric Auvinen, shot himself in the head and died in hospital the same day.

The incident in Tuusula, southern Finland, occurred at 11.45 a.m. local time (10.45 a.m. GMT) while students attended classes. Police said the school principal and a nurse along with five boys and one girl were killed.

A video foreshadowing the attack, the first such incident in Finland's history, was posted on the YouTube Web site around two weeks ago under the title "Jokela High School massacre 11/7/2007," but the account was later blocked.

Local media quoted teachers as saying the killer was interested in war history and extremism.
