Three miners trapped in coalmine in eastern Ukraine
16:07 25/11/2007
DONETSK, November 25 (RIA Novosti) - Three miners were trapped underground during a rock slide at a coalmine in eastern Ukraine, regional authorities said on Sunday.
The mine incident occurred at 11:38 a.m. local time on November 25, the regional authorities said.
"Three miners are trapped underground. No contact has been established with them so far," the regional authorities said.
Ukraine has not yet recovered from a major accident, which occurred last Sunday at the Zasyadko coalmine in the Donetsk Region in eastern Ukraine and claimed the lives of 100 miners.
Wages at the majority of Ukrainian mines are calculated by coal volumes. This often leads miners to ignore safety procedures.
