Anthony Mark Bianchi, 45, a wealthy Jersey motel owner, is believed to have traveled to Cuba and Eastern Europe, including Moldova, with the aim of sexually abusing children.
The millionaire, known to the children as Mark, was sentenced in 2000 to three years in prison in Russia for similar offences but was released following an amnesty.
In August, Bianchi was arrested at his home by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under a federal law, the Protect Act, aimed at tackling sex tourism.
Bianchi's Moldovan accomplice, Ion Gusin, who served as an interpreter, was also arrested by Moldovan police.
During the trial at a Philadelphian court several Moldovan boys aged from 14 to 16 testified that 'Mark' had invited them to dinner, an Internet cafe or bowling, and then sexually abused them.
Meanwhile, the defendant's lawyer Mark Geragos cited repeated inconsistencies in the victims' testimonies, saying "Every single one of those witnesses has been impeached."
More than 50 cases have been brought under the Protect Act, and more than 30 pedophiles have been convicted.
