HANOI, January 18 (RIA Novosti) - Customs authorities at an airport in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, have confiscated a ton of rare snakes from a passenger on a flight from Bangkok, Thailand, national media said on Friday.
The oriental ratsnakes, which are on the World Wildlife Fund's endangered species list, were packed in boxes and listed as fresh fish in customs documents.
The reptiles were subsequently transferred to the local wildlife conservation center.
The incident comes less than a month after some 700 live snakes of varying species were seized onboard a Thai Airway plane at the same airport.
