RIO DE JANEIRO, March 24 (RIA Novosti) - Brazilian candy makers in Sao Paulo have produced a huge meter-high 160 kg (352 lbs) chocolate egg as part of the Easter celebrations.

The chocolate egg, which is 91 cms (35 inches) wide and 1.2 meters high (3.9 ft), has a 4.2-cm-thick shell and is filled with over 2,500 chocolate candies. The makers sold the exclusive sweet for a total of $7,000 delivering it by refrigerator truck to stop it melting.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the world's largest Easter egg was made in Belgium. The egg measured 8.32 meters (27 ft) high and was made of at least 50,000 bars or around 2,000 kg of chocolate.

A decorated Easter egg celebrates Easter and the coming of spring. The first chocolate Easter eggs appeared in Germany and France in the early 19th century.

Christians across the world celebrated Easter on Sunday the most important religious holiday in the Christian calendar.
