Iraq criticized the final declaration of the Arab League summit that concluded its two-day work in the Syrian capital on Sunday.
BEIRUT, March 30 (RIA Novosti) - Iraq criticized the final declaration of the Arab League summit that concluded its two-day work in the Syrian capital on Sunday.

The summit's final declaration called for national reconciliation in Iraq and urged an end to fighting between Shiite insurgents and the U.S. supported Iraqi forces in the city of Basra in southern Iraq. However, the Iraqi delegation said the declaration failed to condemn terrorism in the country.

"We have reservations over the text [of the declaration]. It does not include the efforts by the Iraqi government for national reconciliation and it does not condemn terrorism and violence," Shiite Vice-President Adel Abdul-Mehdi said.

Fighting between the followers of Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and Iraqi government forces erupted six days ago and has spread to other parts of the country since then.
