KIEV, March 31 (RIA Novosti) - Former heavyweight WBC Champion of the World Vitali Klitschko has voiced again his intention to run for the post of mayor of the Ukrainian capital submitting Monday documents to register his candidacy.
On March 16 the Ukrainian Parliament voted to hold early elections for the City Hall of Kiev's mayor upon government's request, which accuses current Mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy and his administration of corruption.
Klitschko, 36, began campaigning for mayor of Kiev shortly after his retirement in 2005. He lost the election to businessman Chernovetskiy, but placed second with 26% of the vote. He was elected as a people's deputy to Kiev City Council, instead.
The registration of candidates for the post of Kiev's mayor, who is elected for the term of five years, has begun on March 26 to last through April 15.
The early election was scheduled for May 25.
