BEIJING, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - At least 66 people were killed and 247 injured after two trains smashed into each other following a derailment in eastern China early Monday, the China Central Television Station reported.
The passenger train bound from Beijing for the resort city of Qingdao derailed on a bend in Zibo in the Shandong province at 4:43 a.m. local time, sending 10 carriages into a ditch.
A second train, traveling from Shandong's Yantai city to Xuzhou, crashed into the derailed cars and also ran off the track, China's Xinhua news agency said.
The cause of the collision is being investigated. The death toll is expected to rise.
