DONETSK, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - The body of another miner was discovered by rescuers on Monday bringing the total death toll from a May 23 explosion at an east Ukrainian coal mine to nine, the country's emergencies ministry said.

The explosion at the Krasnolimanskaya mine in the Donetsk Region occurred when 396 miners were working the night shift.

"The body of the miner was discovered at 00:35 (21:35 GMT) and was bought to the surface at 4:40 a.m. (00:40 GMT). Two people are still missing, their fate is unknown," a spokesman said.

Four miners died instantly and three injured workers managed to make their own way out. Three miners are still in hospital, and one of them is in a serious condition. The bodies of four other miners were found last week.

The Krasnolimanskaya mine is known for its poor safety record and is considered high-risk for methane explosions. Last December alone, two fires occurred in the mine.
