* Russia's Defense Ministry is planning to expand the presence of the Russian Navy in the world's oceans and extend the operational radius of submarines deployed with the Northern Fleet, a high-ranking military official said

* The number of people injured during an earthquake in Greece, which killed two on Sunday, has risen to 257, local TV reported citing the country's Interior Ministry

* French carmaker Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors, one of Japan's largest car producers, broke ground on a joint venture estimated at 470 million euros ($732 million), in Kaluga, a city southwest of Moscow

* Russian energy giant Gazprom said it had signed a deal with the government of Tajikistan on prospecting four oil and gas fields in the Central Asian country

* Gazprom's CEO Alexei Miller said:

- Gazprom's gas delivery prices for Europe reached $410 per 1,000 cubic meters

- Gazprom is set to become a key player on the French energy market and could buy major assets in France
