BEIRUT, June 22 (RIA Novosti) - At least one person was killed and 19 others wounded in fighting that broke out Sunday in northern Lebanon between pro- and anti-government supporters, the television channel Al Arabia said.
The fighting involving machineguns and grenade launchers erupted in the Bab el-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen districts of Tripoli, Lebanon's second largest city. The fighting had eased after army reinforcements had been sent to the area.
Last month, Lebanon saw an end to its 18-month political crisis after the Western-backed coalition and the Hezbollah-led opposition reached a deal brokered in Qatar.
Prior to the deal, violent clashes that broke out between the supporters of the pro-Western government and Hezbollah-led opposition in early May left more than 80 people dead and about 200 wounded.
