Chavez ends tour by mending ties with Spanish king

MADRID, July 25 (RIA Novosti) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez met Friday with King Juan Carlos for the first time since the Spanish monarch told him to "shut up" at a summit in Chile last November.

Following visits to Russia, Belarus and Portugal, Chavez met with the king on Majorca, where the royal couple is vacationing. The two shook hands and Chavez suggested they "go to the beach."

The Venezuelan leader enraged the Spanish monarch at an Ibero-American summit by interrupting a speech by Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero. The scandal dealt a severe blow to bilateral relations between the two countries.

In the latest broadcast of his Sunday TV show "Hello, president," aired ahead of his European tour, Chavez said, "I will happily embrace the king, but I am not going to shut up."
