MOSCOW, September 30 (RIA Novosti) - At least 80 people have been killed and over 100 injured in a stampede at the Chamunda Devi temple in Jodhpur, western India, the Times of India said on Tuesday, citing police sources.

According to TV reports, the tragedy was caused by rumors that a bomb had been planted in the temple. Other reports say a wall collapsed, causing panic among the festival goers.

Over 10,000 pilgrims had gathered at the temple for the start of the nine-day Navratra festival in honor of female divinity.

Indian temples frequently see deadly stampedes. In early August, a total of 145 people were killed and over 300 injured in a stampede outside the Naina Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh, northern India.
