PARIS, October 29 (RIA Novosti) - A court in the central French city of Tours has sentenced a French woman, who drove a car without a license for 34 years, to a 400-euro ($518) fine, the France Info radio station reported on Wednesday.
The 57-year-old woman identified as Claire, was stopped by police for the first time in 34 years after jumping a red light on May 22.
Claire told the court that she failed to complete her course of driving lessons and did not take her test after being diagnosed with leukemia.
"Then I began taking my husband's car without his knowledge to drive to the hospital, it is not far," she was quoted as saying. "In 2001 I was diagnosed with cancer and I had to drive to hospital four times a week again."
The woman added she now plans to give up driving.
