Serbian politician to sue CNN over war criminal photo mix up
The article about former Bosnian Serb commander Ratko Mladic, wanted for genocide by the international war crimes tribunal, was published on the CNN International site last Thursday. Instead of Mladic's photograph, however, a smiling election photograph of Nikolic was posted by mistake.
Nationalist politician Nikolic said "This information could have serious consequences for me, both for my political activities, my security and for CNN."
Nikolic said he is seeking 10 million euros in compensation for the photo mix up.
The photograph remained on the site for some time, after which it was removed, but electronic copies still appeared on a number of Serbian websites, including the state television channel.
Belgrade, which is seeking EU membership, is under pressure to hand over Mladic, accused of carrying out the massacre of some 8,000 Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica in July 1995.
