India froze talks with Pakistan on the normalization of relations following bloody terrorist attack in Mumbai last month, the Indian foreign minister said on Tuesday.
NEW DELHI, December 16 (RIA Novosti) - India froze talks with Pakistan on the normalization of relations following bloody terrorist attack in Mumbai last month, the Indian foreign minister said on Tuesday.

Terrorists armed with submachine guns and grenades swept through India's commercial capital on November 26, attacking hotels, the railway station, a cinema, and a hospital. More than 20 foreigners were among the 174 people killed in the three-day rampage.

"I do admit there is a pause in the composite dialogue process because of the attacks on Mumbai," Pranab Mukherjee said.

The Indian government said earlier that the 10 terrorists, who travelled to Mumbai by sea from Karachi, had been trained in Pakistan and were members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization. Investigators have said the only terrorist captured alive, 21-year-old Azam Amir Kasav, admitted receiving military training in Pakistan.

The foreign minister reiterated India's demand that Pakistan hand over 40 people suspected of involvement in terrorism and eradicate all terrorist organizations active on the territory of Pakistan.

Indian Defense Minister Arackaparambil Kurian Antony said that despite tensions in bilateral relations, India was not planning any military attacks in the wake of the Mumbai terrorist acts. He added, however, that there would be no normalization of relations until Pakistan eliminated all terrorist organizations.

"Unless Pakistan takes actions against those terrorists who are operating on their soil against India ... things will not be normal," he said.

After last month's attacks, Pakistan's government sent its condolences and promised to cooperate. The countries have agreed to meet in India with Pakistan's intergovernmental investigations officials to exchange information on the atrocities.

Indian suspicions of Pakistani involvement in the attacks have inflamed relations between the nuclear-armed countries, which have in the past fought three wars.
