KIEV, December 26 (RIA Novosti) - Almost half of Ukrainians called President Viktor Yushchenko the "political disappointment of 2008," a national pollster said on Friday.

According to the survey conducted by the Razumkov Center of Economic and Political Research, 47.6% of respondents said Yushchenko was the main political disappointment of the year, while 76.4% said they did not support the president's policies.

The head of the center's social service, Andriy Bychenko, said that the poll showed a decline in trust for politicians in the country on the whole.

"Only 3.2% of the respondents said that the events in the country are developing in the right direction," Bychenko said.

The nationwide poll, based on a sample of 2,017 adults, was conducted between December 17 and 24 with a margin of error not exceeding 2.3%.
