BAKU, December 30 (RIA Novosti) - A bus carrying Russian pilgrims from the Islamic holy city of Mecca crashed near Azerbaijan's capital overnight, injuring five people, local TV reported on Tuesday.
The bus was involved in a collision with a truck some 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Baku. Five Russians from Russia's North Caucasus republic of Daghestan were injured in the accident and later admitted to hospital, ANS TV said.
The accident occurred on a stretch of road that was under construction.
Last week, a tourist bus with more than 20 passengers overturned some 15 km (nine miles) from the Egyptian city of Dahab, killing six Russians and a Ukrainian woman.
In mid-December, 24 Russian tourists were killed and another 25 injured in a fatal road accident in Israel after a bus plunged 80 meters (263 feet) down a ravine near the Red Sea resort city of Eilat.
