More than 170 people died when several locations in India's financial center of Mumbai, including two famous hotels, came under simultaneous attack in November.
Pakistani Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik said at a news conference in Islamabad that 124 members of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba and charity Jamaat-ud-Dawa had been arrested. Among the detainees is Hafeez Saed, a Lakshar founder who heads the charity and has been under house arrest since December.
The Jamaat-ud-Dawa organization is widely considered as the political wing of Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was banned by Pakistan in 2002 after an attack on India's parliament in 2001. The UN Security Council passed a resolution last month declaring Jamaat-ud-Dawa a terrorist organization.
"We have banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa publications, closed six internet sites, and have arrested 124 people for their participation in violent activities," Malik said. He added that 22 offices, two libraries, 87 schools and five camps in which terrorists were being trained had been shut down as well.
Malik's press conference came in response to Wednesday's accusations from India that Pakistan was not sincere in wanting to bring an end terrorist activity on its territory. He promised to support India and called for a joint investigation into the attacks, saying Pakistan needed more information.
"We have to prove to the world that India and Pakistan stand together against terrorists because they are the common enemies," Malik said.
Earlier this month, New Delhi gave Islamabad preliminary documents on the investigation, including the transcript during questioning of the only surviving terrorist, Mohammed Ajmal Kasab. Islamabad has acknowledged that Kasab is a Pakistani citizen.
India has sent Islamabad a list of individuals that New Delhi claims are associated with terrorist activities in India, but Pakistan has so far refused to consider their extradition.
