BISHKEK, March 3 (RIA Novosti) - A Kyrgyz national attempting to smuggle over 92 kg (202 lb) of narcotics from Afghanistan has been arrested in the town of Osh in southern Kyrgyzstan, a spokesman for the state anti-drug agency said on Tuesday.

According to the official, a car driven by a 29-old Kyrgyz man was stopped for routine inspection on March 2.

"During the search of the car trunk, police found and seized 34.8 kg (76 lb) of raw opium and 57.5 kg (126.7 lb) of hashish," the source said.

The street value in Russia of the seized drugs would have been around $1 mln, he added.

Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian republics are a major gateway to Russia and Europe for the continual flow of drugs from Afghanistan, the world's leading producer of heroin.
