Russia condemns terrorist attacks in Iraq that killed over 80
MOSCOW, April 24 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has condemned two terrorist attacks in Iraq that killed more than 80 people and injured around 120, including women and children, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its web site Friday.
A suicide bomber in Baghdad blew himself up near a group of police who were handing out humanitarian aid on Thursday, killing 28 people and injuring an additional 50. In another terrorist attack in Imam Wais, 70 kilometers northeast of Baqubah, a female suicide bomber blew herself up in a restaurant, killing 56 and injuring 67.
"While absolutely condemning these barbaric actions by extremists, we express our deep regret to the relatives and close friends of those who died and empathize with the families of those injured," the statement reads.
The statement also said that in the uncompromising fight against such acts of terrorism, which target innocent people, Iraqis must supply their own security.
