TBILISI, May 10 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has agreed to meet with the opposition, which is demanding his resignation, with the meeting planned for Monday, the presidential press office said on Sunday.

"The meeting is being planned. Presumably, it will take place tomorrow. So far, this is all information," the press office said.

Georgian opposition leaders on Thursday gave Saakashvili three days to meet with them to discuss their demand for early elections, otherwise, they threatened to start blocking the country's highways.

The opposition, who have been demonstrating against the president on the streets of the capital for the past month, claim over 60 people, including six police officers, were injured in clashes at a police compound in the Tbilisi suburb of Didi Digomi, on Wednesday night.

The Conservative Party said on Friday that the country's leading opposition groups had informed Tbilisi city hall they will continue their protests in the country's capital until May 26.

The meeting of the Georgian president with the opposition will take place at 2:00 p.m. Moscow time (10:00 GMT) on May 11, the presidential administration said in a statement on Sunday.

"The Georgian president has confirmed and expressed on many occasions his readiness for a meeting with any political force... Mikheil Saakashvili hopes that the authorities will be able to overcome all existing problems in the country by joint efforts with all political forces," the statement said.
