Centenarian stands for election in Italy

MOSCOW, May 13 (RIA Novosti) - A 101-year-old Italian woman is standing for election in eastern Italy, regional media have reported.

Maria Donati hopes to be elected to the town council in Saludecio, not far from San Marino.

The great grandmother took the decision to stand after her grandson Roberto put his name forward for Saludecio's mayoral elections.

Polls are due on June 6-7, and Donati is confident of victory.

"After all, I have 100 years of experience," she told local media.
