Russia-NATO council to convene in Brussels

BRUSSELS, May 27 (RIA Novosti) - A meeting of the Russia-NATO Council at the level of ambassadors will be held on Wednesday in Brussels.
The meeting will focus on both security in the Euro-Atlantic region and relations between Russia and NATO, which were temporarily broken off after last August's Georgia-Russia war.
The sides are also expected to discuss the recent nuclear tests by North Korea, and are likely to issue a statement on the issue.
North Korea fired short-range missiles into the Pacific on Tuesday in apparent defiance against international pressure over its recent nuclear test. UN Security Council has unanimously condemned the nuclear test blast, and several countries have called for further sanctions.
The Belgian capital is set to host a Russia-NATO meeting at the level of foreign ministers in September, and a meeting of chiefs of general staffs in October.
NATO's new secretary general, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, is expected to visit Moscow later this year.
