Israel begins construction of fuel pipeline to Gaza
MOSCOW, June 10 (RIA Novosti) - Israel has begun the construction of a pipeline to supply diesel fuel and kerosene to the southern Gaza Strip, the Jerusalem Post said on Wednesday, citing the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).
Both Israeli and Palestinian workers will be involved in construction works.
"The IDF will continue to work to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip," the paper quoted an IDF statement as saying.
Israel first closed its border with the Palestinian enclave after the radical Islamic movement Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip in June 2007. The blockade has led to a drastic deterioration in the humanitarian situation in the enclave of some 1.5 million.
