TBILISI, June 11 (RIA Novosti) - A series of explosions in the west Georgian town of Zugdidi during the night, leaving one man severely injured, national police said on Friday.
Electrician Shalva Okromchedlishvili, 58, was injured in the first blast, in an empty railroad car at the town's railway station five minutes before midnight. The second explosion went off in a nearby trash container a few minutes later.
Two hours later, a truck parked at a local police department blew up.
"The blasts were carried out by people who do not want peace to settle in this region," the Georgian Interior Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
Combat engineers and investigators are working at the crime scenes.
A 12-meter stretch of the Khobi-Zugdidi railway was damaged in an explosion on June 2. No casualties were reported.
