MOSCOW, June 24 (RIA Novosti) - Iran's foreign and domestic policies will become less uncompromising during President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's second term, the head of the Modern Iran Study Center said Wednesday.
Ahmadinejad's landslide victory on June 12 has sparked mass protests amid opposition allegations of ballot fraud. At least 13 people have been killed according to Iranian media and over 450 arrested in the largest challenge to the Islamic Revolution since the 1979 overthrow of U.S.-backed Shah Reza Pahlavi.
"With four years of accumulated experience, Ahmadinejad will behave differently - he will not be the same uncompromising politician," Radjab Safarov said.
He said Iran's foreign policy would be "proper and absolutely reasonable." On the topic of the Islamic Republic's controversial nuclear program, the expert said Iran would "work constructively to allay Western countries' concerns."
"As regards domestic policy, it is absolutely clear that there will be serious reshuffles in the new Cabinet. I think many representatives of Ahmadinejad's opponents will find top state posts, and will be conductors for his opponents' ideas," Safarov also said.
The Guardian Council, Iran's highest legislative body, said on Tuesday it would not annul the results of the presidential vote and Ahmadinejad and his new Cabinet would be sworn in between July 26 and August 19.
Official results gave the incumbent 63% of the vote, with reformist challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi getting 34%.
