MOSCOW, June 25 (RIA Novosti) - World Health Organization chief Margaret Chan will arrive in Russia on Thursday for official talks on the A/H1NA pandemic with the Russian Cabinet, a WHO spokesman said.
On June 11, WHO introduced phase 6 of the influenza pandemic the first time for 40 years.
According to the latest figures, 55,867 cases of A/H1N1 have been reported in 108 countries, with 238 deaths.
Only three swine flu cases have so far been confirmed in Russia, with experts predicting the first wave of swine flu in November.
Prior to being appointed WHO chief in November 2006, Chan was Director of Health in Hong Kong. During her nine years as director, she confronted the first human outbreak of bird flu in 1997.
