TBILISI, July 8 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian parliamentary committees began considering amendments to simplify visa rules on Wednesday.
The changes would introduce the option of getting a single-entry 90-day visa, costing 30 Georgian lari (around $18), while keeping the currently available 360-day multiple-entry visa, which costs $50.
The amendment will be discussed during a special session of the country's parliament later this week.
Georgia allows citizens from dozens of countries to receive visas at the border.
Tbilisi imposed a stricter visa regime for Russian nationals and formally broke off diplomatic ties with Russia after Moscow recognized the republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states. Prior to the restrictions, Russians were able to obtain Georgian visas at any border crossing.
