Costa Rican President Oscar Arias has proposed holding a second round of talks on the settlement of the Honduras crisis next week.

MEXICO CITY, July 13 (RIA Novosti) - Costa Rican President Oscar Arias has proposed holding a second round of talks on the settlement of the Honduras crisis next week.

The Honduran military arrested President Manuel Zelaya on June 28, the day polls were due to open for a referendum on the extension of his non-renewable, four-year term of office, and flew him to Costa Rica.

Zelaya was expected to return home last week, but was blocked at the airport runway by coup leaders and was forced to fly to Nicaragua. The international community has denounced the coup.

"I think that in eight days we will be able to hold a new round of talks between the representatives of Manuel Zelaya and Roberto Micheletti," Arias told the La Nacion newspaper.

The first round of talks, which was held in the Costa Rican capital, San Jose, on July 9 and July 10, produced no results.

After the talks, Arias, who is serving as mediator in the crisis, called on the international community not to meddle in the negotiation process and give Central American nations the chance to resolve the conflict themselves.

Zelaya and Micheletti have so far refused to hold one-on-one talks but had separate meetings with the Costa Rican president.

Honduras on Sunday lifted a curfew imposed immediately after the coup.
