North Korea has launched a bizarre verbal attack on U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, calling her vulgar and unintelligent after she likened the communist state to an unruly child earlier this week.

MOSCOW, July 23 (RIA Novosti) - North Korea has launched a bizarre verbal attack on U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, calling her vulgar and unintelligent after she likened the communist state to an unruly child earlier this week.

An unnamed spokesman to North Korea's Foreign Ministry said that Clinton's remark during an interview she gave while visiting New Delhi showed that she was "by no means intelligent."

"What we've seen is this constant demand for attention," Clinton told ABC News. "And maybe it's the mother in me or the experience that I've had with small children and unruly teenagers and people who are demanding attention - don't give it to them, they don't deserve it, they are acting out."

"She has made numerous vulgar remarks... since she took office," North Korea's KCNA news agency quoted a Foreign Ministry statement as saying. "We cannot but regard Mrs. Clinton as a funny lady as she likes to utter such rhetoric, unaware of the elementary etiquette in the international community."

"Sometimes she looks like a primary schoolgirl and sometimes a pensioner going shopping," KCNA said.

Clinton, who is currently attending a regional forum of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations in the Thai resort island of Phuket, told a news conference that North Korea's nuclear ambitions could cause an arms race in Asia.

"Our partners in the region understand that a nuclear North Korea has far-reaching consequences for the security future of northeast Asia," she said. "There is no place to go for North Korea, they have no friends left that will protect them from the international community's efforts to move towards denuclearization."
