MOSCOW, July 25 (RIA Novosti) - Three Russian nationals were killed and one injured in Friday's air crash in Iran, the Foreign Ministry said Saturday.

According to Iranian television Press TV, at least 16 people were killed and over 20 injured as the Il-62M passenger jet with 160 people on board skidded off the runway during landing in northeast Iran's Mashhad.

The Russian ministry, however, said 17 were killed, among them three Russians, and 30 were injured.

The plane's tires caught fire on landing and it skidded into a wall. The cockpit and the front part of the fuselage were completely destroyed.

Earlier Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry said all five crew, Kazakh nationals, died in the crash.

Last week, another plane, a Tu-154 of Iran's Caspian Airlines, crashed in northern Iran en route from Tehran to Yerevan, killing all 153 passengers and 15 crew onboard.
