CAIRO, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - Panic broke out during an international flight from Abu Dhabi to Cairo when a small crocodile was discovered scuttling around the cabin, Egyptian media reported on Friday.
During the flight, passengers spotted a 30-centimeter (12-inch) crocodile dodging between the seats of the plane. Passengers began screaming and jumping from their seats. The flight crew was finally able to catch the reptile and calm the passengers.
Upon arriving in Cairo, the crocodile was handed over to veterinarians. The freeloader reptile will be handed over to Cairo Zoo after quarantine.
It has not yet been established how the crocodile ended up on board the plane.
Last August, 250 reptiles, including baby crocodiles, snakes and chameleons were confiscated in Egypt from a Saudi Arabian who was flying home from Cairo. The confiscated animals were also given to the Cairo Zoo.
