MOSCOW, August 12 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll of Typhoon Morakot has risen to 67 people in Taiwan as of Wednesday, with 45 injured and 61 missing, China's Xinhua news agency reported.

Earlier reports said 63 Taiwanese citizens had been killed in the worst typhoon to hit the island in half a century.

The latest death toll also included three crew of a rescue helicopter that crashed in southern Taiwan's Pingdong County on Tuesday. Their bodies were recovered early on Wednesday.

The damage to Taiwanese agriculture caused by Morakot has been estimated at some $267 million, according to Xinhua.

In China, where Morakot has claimed at least six lives, damage from the typhoon has been roughly put at around $1.33 billion. The Chinese authorities allocated $77.2 million to help those affected by Morakot.

The typhoon's path earlier took it through the Philippines, where dozens of people died.
