At least 41 killed in Kuwait wedding fire
MOSCOW, August 16 (RIA Novosti) - At least 41 people were killed and over 50 injured in a fire that broke out during a wedding ceremony west of Kuwait City, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday.
Candles may have been the cause of the fire that engulfed a cotton tent being used at the wedding in less than two minutes on Saturday, according to Al Jazeera's correspondent in Kuwait. All of those killed in the country's worst such incident in four decades were women and children.
An investigation of the Jahra disaster is underway, and it has yet to be established if the bride survived.
Wedding celebrations are held separately for men and women in Kuwait, with children attending the women's party, Al Jazeera said.
