JAKARTA, September 7 (RIA Novosti) - An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale struck Indonesia's Central Java on Monday, meteorologists reported.
There is as yet no information on casualties or damage. No tsunami warning has been declared.
The quake occured at 11:12 p.m. (16.12 GMT).
The quake's epicenter was 263 km (163 miles) to the south-east of the town of Wonosari, local meteorologists said.
Indonesia's West Java was hit by a quake on September 2 that took more than 100 lives and destroyed thousands of houses.
Part of the Pacific's Ring of Fire, Indonesia is in the world's most seismically active region, registering 6,000-7,000 earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.0 or above annually.
