Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has confirmed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a secret visit to Moscow.

MOSCOW, September 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has confirmed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a secret visit to Moscow.

Israeli newspapers including Haaretz earlier cited unnamed officials as saying Netanyahu came to Moscow earlier in September to discuss Russian-Iranian arms deals.

"He [the Israeli premier] made it [visit] in a closed regime, it was his decision. I do not understand very clearly what it was connected with, but if our partners decided so, our attitude toward it was perfectly normal and quiet. I communicated with him," Medvedev said in an interview with CNN aired Sunday.

"We discussed various issues. Earlier I met with [Israeli] President [Shimon] Peres, and after that I met with Prime Minister Netanyahu. This is normal, it's our dialogue," he said.

"And [Iranian President] Ahmadinejad arrived too, but earlier... We communicate with everyone," he said.

Peres visited the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi in August to discuss Russia's arms deals with Iran. He said Medvedev promised to "reconsider the sales of S-300s [advanced air defense systems to Iran] because it affects the delicate balance which exists in the Middle East."
