MOSCOW, September 22 (RIA Novosti) -The Honduran Foreign Ministry has demanded that the Brazilian embassy hand over ousted president Manuel Zelaya, who returned to Honduras on Monday

"I call on the Brazilian government to respect a court ruling on Zelaya and to hand him over to the Honduran authorities," Roberto Micheletti said in a speech broadcasted by the national TV.

He warned Brazil that otherwise it might be responsible for possible turmoil in the country sparked by the ousted president's return.

Thousands of Zelaya's supporters have gathered near the Brazilian embassy in the capital Tegucigalpa despite a government-imposed curfew.

Micheletti's administration said in a statement that it had extended the night-time curfew until Tuesday evening.

Zelaya was bundled out of the country on June 28 by the military, acting on instructions from the Supreme Court and parliament, for his efforts to seek an unconstitutional second presidential term. He was flown to Costa Rica. The de facto Honduran leadership has not been recognized internationally.
