G20 summits to be held once a year after 2011 - communique

PITTSBURGH, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - Members of the Group of 20 leading economies agreed to hold their summits once instead of twice a year beginning in 2011, a final communique of the G20 summit in Pittsburgh said.

The next summit will be held in Canada in June of 2010 and then in South Korea in November of the same year. The summit in 2011 will be held in France, according to a final communique adopted by the G20 leaders.

The G20 summit on September 24-25 in Pittsburgh, PA, focused on steps to overcome the global economic crisis.

This was the third G20 summit with the previous two held in Washington in November of 2008 and in London in April this year.

The Group of 20 leading economies includes Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Britain, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Canada, China, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Turkey, France, South Africa, South Korea, Japan and the European Union.
