NEW YORK, September 29 (RIA Novosti) - Honduran Foreign Minister Patricia Isabel Rodas Baca urged the UN General Assembly on Tuesday to call an emergency session on Honduras and to send a special mission to assist in settling the country's political crisis.

President Manuel Zelaya was bundled out of Honduras on June 28 by the military, but returned to the country on September 21 and took refuge in the Brazilian embassy.

"I call on the General Assebmly to convene for an emergency session... to show support for the duly elected president Manuel Zelaya," she said, speaking to the 192-member General Assembly.

She added that Brazil's embassy in Tegucigalpa is under threat of being stormed by the forces of the interim government and urged a "firm collective action."

"We know that new units of these troops are moving towards the Brazilian embassy to storm it. This threat could be averted if we take a firm collective action," she said.

The foreign minister also confirmed reports that the interim government has silenced opposition media outlets, such as Radio Globo and Canal 36. A number of other media suspended their work amid multiple threats, the International Federation of Journalists said.
