MOSCOW, October 8 (RIA Novosti) - Internet users want to track the news events that shape public opinion, connect to social networking sites and check the credibility of unknown bloggers, a survey conducted by the SYNC3 consortium says.

The survey was revealed at the latest consortium meeting, hosted by RIA Novosti, in Moscow on October 1-2 by Synergetic Content Creation and Communication Consortium project, which is co-funded by the European 7th Framework Programme for Research.

Journalists, bloggers, communication professionals, policy makers and the general public were interviewed to get an idea of what users want.

According to the survey, users need a powerful and simple tool to map the blogoshere. For users, SYNC3 is a tool that helps to understand public opinion and identify trends and issues to be reported by professional journalists, or to be addressed by communication professionals and know how to check the credibility of unknown bloggers.

The Moscow plenary meeting concluded the project’s inception period.
