Russia's Putin to talk economy at SCO Council meeting

Delegations of the four SCO observer states, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan, are also expected to attend the meeting

BEIJING, October 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will discuss key economic issues at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government in Beijing on Wednesday.
The meeting will focus on humanitarian and economic cooperation between SCO member states, including measures to offest the consequences of the global financial crisis.
The SCO prime ministers are also due to discuss joint transport, energy, information and telecommunication projects.
Delegations of the four SCO observer states, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan, are also expected to attend the meeting.
The SCO, founded in 2001, consists of Russia, China and the ex-Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
On Tuesday, Putin met with his Chinese counterpart, Wen Jiabao, and is scheduled to meet on Wednesday with Chinese President Hu Jintao.
