Ireland has ratified the European Union's Lisbon Treaty, national media said on Friday.

BRUSSELS, October 16 (RIA Novosti) - Ireland has ratified the European Union's Lisbon Treaty, national media said on Friday.

Irish President Mary McAleese announced she had signed the treaty into law following a Yes vote in this month's referendum. The vote followed a rejection of the treaty by voters in June 2008.

Ireland was the only country whose constitution obliged it to hold a referendum on ratification.

The Czech Republic is now the only EU country not to have ratified the treaty, which is designed to streamline EU decision making.
