Eight killed, 28 injured in road accident in northwest China

XIANGGANG (Hong Kong), October 25 (RIA Novosti) - At least eight people were killed and 28 others injured in a road accident in the Qinghai province in northwest China, official news agency Xinhua reported on Sunday.
The road accident occurred on Saturday afternoon on the national highway No. 109 when a truck hit the rear of a passenger bus. The bus overturned leaving seven people dead on the spot and 29 others injured. One of the injured died on the way to hospital, the agency reported.
Seven people received serious brain, bone, liver and chest injuries but were in stable condition after emergency treatment, the agency said, referring to local health authorities.
An investigation into the accident is under way.
At least 100,000 people die in road accidents in China each year.
