BEIJING, October 29 (RIA Novosti) - Eleven people were killed and 17 injured in a bus crash in the eastern Chinese Zhejiang Province, the Xinhua news agency reported Thursday.

An overloaded 19-seat passenger bus that was carrying people who attended a funeral plunged off a mountain road 100 meters down in Qianling village on Wednesday, the agency said.

Officials said one of those injured is still in a critical condition after the accident that investigators said the driver could be to blame for.

Over 300 police officers, soldiers, medics, government officials and locals took part in the rescue operation.

China leads in the numbers of road accidents in the world. At least 100,000 people die in road accidents in China each year.
