MOSCOW, October 29 (RIA Novosti) - Funerals have been held for some of the 105 victims of a massive car bomb attack in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, Al Jazeera reported on Thursday.
The blast, which occurred on Wednesday at a crowded market, also left more than 200 injured, destroyed several buildings including a mosque and caused a fire.
Rescuers said many people were trapped under collapsed shops and other buildings.
Pakistani government officials told Al Jazeera the attack was in revenge for the army's offensive against Taliban fighters in South Waziristan, and said the military campaign would continue.
The explosion, which was the deadliest attack in Pakistan in two years, came at a time when U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Islamabad earlier on Wednesday for a three-day visit to Pakistan.
